The place with the temple, they talked about competition, too. The people following a leader will win, but so will the leader. What does that mean in the long run? If the leader is trying to get something by using us as pawns.

If it's more than simply a kindergarten relay race to make us behave.

The temple knew they were in competition from the start, and why. The winning party would get a wish granted. They also agreed to participate willingly, since it was ... a dream. It was a pantheon of gods trying to decide who would lead via competition using that group.

[ it feels important to note. it's weird. it's dumb. all these death games are dumb. it's also giving him a moment to not think about how Jason is right that none of this is right!! haha. hateful. ]

Whatever competition this is-- if it is linked to what's going to happen-- is a different ball game entirely.
