[ it's some time after trial, and steph has exited the isolation (chamber) cabin to let evan have some time to himself. she's mostly just... wandering around? limping slightly. but

she is out there, and she pauses when she sees shinobu. ]

[wisterin]

[ Shinobu can guess that Stephanie would want some time with the people she knows and cares more first, but she is actively searching for her. She's carrying a tray with cups on it, and her brows furrow when she notices that limp. ]

I am sorry about Hansen-kun.

[vigilantics]

It's-- [ well, she can't say it's okay.

she just shakes her head. ]

We'll fix it.

[wisterin]

[ Yeah, she wouldn't have believed it if Steph said it was okay. ]

We will.

[ Shinobu says that with firm resolve. ]

I won't stop until we do. I made some tea, if you would like some. And to... sit, if you could spare some time.

[vigilantics]

... that's fine with me, yeah.

[ that'll be a good way to waste time, she thinks, until she goes back to evan. ]

And to answer an earlier question, I voted for myself.

[ That's her guess. ]

I didn't ask with the intention to scold you. I voted for myself, too, back on the island.

Was there a punishment?

[ ... ]

But yeah. There are a few people from home here, but they weren't at the castle with me.

week 1, friday

[wisterin]

[ Shinobu is carrying a tray of what looks like vegetables and fruits. When she sees Stephanie, she waves. ]

Hello, Brown-san! Today has been no shortage of worries, has it?

[vigilantics]

[ she nods her head. ]

It definitely has. How are you doing?

[wisterin]

I think it's a terrible day, if I have to be honest, but isn't that the same for everyone?

[ Everyone who has some semblance of morals, at least. ]

[vigilantics]

I would hope so.

... but you were out yesterday, right?

[wisterin]

[ She nods and looks at the fruit she's holding, as if to indicate where. ]

Were you also?

[vigilantics]

The lake.

There's a dumb song stuck in my head.

week 2, friday

[wisterin]

[ Well, they were in the Nurse's Office together, but Shinobu will give Steph a moment or very many because she knows that she and Hikage were close.

When she greets Steph, wherever Shinobu can find her again, there isn't really a smile or anything on her face, as she tries to keep from shutting her eyes. Her demeanor is somewhere between curious and concerned. ]

Brown-san?

[vigilantics]

Hi.

[ there's a wave, but she drops her hand fairly quickly back down to her side. ]

How are your eyes?

[wisterin]

[ Hm. Yeah. She notices that and only looks mildly concerned. Shinobu tries not to wince because her huge eyes means her pain is proportional. ]

They could be better. How are you?

[ She doesn't mean her eyes. ]

[vigilantics]

... I don't know.

[ she knows she's mad, but it's being outweighed by a sort of numb feeling since the announcement went up, like her body is giving her time to process what actually happened. ]

[wisterin]

[ She frowns, and her brows furrow, as if she wants to be more concerned than she actually feels. ]

Every loss hits differently but no less deeply. It's all right now to know, but I hope you allow yourself to feel it.

[vigilantics]

... I will.

[ she wonders how to phrase this. ]

I'm a pretty emotional person, I think, for better or worse.

week 3, thursday

[wisterin]

[ SHINOBU IS COMING AFTER YOU, STEPH.

Whether someone like Yin Yu gets to Stephanie first and gets her injuries treated before Shinobu can catch her or not, it doesn't matter!! She's finding her.

Shinobu walks purposefully, making sure to make enough noise to make her presence known before saying anything. ]

I wanted to make sure you were all right.

[vigilantics]

[ well, she can't say she is surprised.

she doesn't respond right away, but she'll nod her head in greeting. ]

I'm fine.

[wisterin]

[ Yeah, Steph shouldn't be surprised at all. ]

I don't agree, but I won't press you for anything but your physical wounds at the moment. Will you at least let me look those over, if someone hasn't already?

[vigilantics]

It's... not as bad as it was before.

[ there's a pause, but she'll sigh and nod. ]

Okay.

[wisterin]

[ are they inside or outside? if they're not inside, shinobu is moving them inside wherever that is. ]

[ As she checks Stephanie over, her brows furrow. ]

Was only what was considered fatal heal?

[ Since it doesn't seem to be complete in the wound closure. ]

[vigilantics]

... pretty much. Since I probably wouldn't be alive right now otherwise.

[ steph does not think a partial healing for the neck wound would have uh, worked ]
