The first part is a lot easier to figure out. It's mostly just an introduction, saying they've been watching us, they picked Varian because he seems smart. it's the rest that's... well. As for Varian, he said his source also received a letter from Beauty. They're using owls to deliver them? So I assume they've only started communicating with people this week.
