[ she considers veronica a friend, and she gets along with ion well enough, but stephanie is definitely a lot more loyal to varian than she is to the two of them. it didn't really seem right to not tell him before them. ]

Okay, but-- we only started those talks last Thursday.

Our plan was to not tell anyone about me. At all. Belph is the more suspicious of the two of us, and no one would suspect someone who got injured every week to have a role.

[ and she's been right because literally no one with a role has approached regarding stuff like that. ]

That was back when we still didn't really know anything about what was going on, so it was safer for only one of us to out ourselves. We told Hikage, but Hikage... well. His case was different. We thought it would be better if he heard it from me directly than someone else because of, um, reasons.

When Belph came to me Saturday, that means you knew he was going to do that, right?

I didn't know what he was going to say to you. Um, I approached him about it yesterday, and he said he didn't mean to sound as mean as he did?

[ which stephanie believes, but she also has been spending a lot of time with belph so she speaks belphish. other people do not. ]

I don't care about that. [ and it's genuine-- Varian was annoyed, but people are condescending to him more often than not. he's used to it. ] But you knew he was going to reveal himself before I ever knew about you, and you were okay with that.

[ he laughs a bit, but it's humorless ]

I was so stupid. I kept going to you with info, trying to-- and you probably already knew all of it.

I didn't. You did tell me a lot of new stuff, and your information helped us figure out other things we weren't sure about. If I didn't think you were helpful then I wouldn't have accepted that invite.

[ although she knows that is something that's difficult to prove, so she'll move on. ]

Belph just really didn't want me to reveal myself. Especially since with all the injuries I'd make an easier target. And there wasn't really anyone who I had a strong inclination to tell in the past... but I felt bad lying to you. So I decided I didn't want to lie anymore, so here I am.

[ he sighs a bit, staring at the counter. He still feels ... stupid. But. ]

[ she just feels... bad, for disappointing him. one of the reasons she even decided she needed to tell him was because she realized he would probably take it really badly otherwise. ]

Well... every week we have to choose one person to check. We find out what faction they are, if they have a role, and if they can travel to any place that we can't.

For the role, we don't know which one it is, which is why Belph has to go and talk to them himself to figure it out.

Oh. That makes a lot more sense. [ hm ] But... "If they can travel to any place we can't"?
