[ exorcising is just killing in more fancy words, but like, apparently that was not the case for every possession place, so dick decides to not specify. there's a twist to his mouth at what jason says but he doesn't respond to the question as the only bitch in this group who had to deal with it. thanks! it sucked! he knows!!! instead he gladly welcomes the subject change with a nod ]
Yeah. I'm assuming everyone did-- that's another way it's similar to what happened in the castle, isn't it, Steph? Three groups, each with titles and secret abilities?
Pretty much. There, my ability was that I could examine one piece of evidence that was left behind and get information on it. One of my friends knew what time a death occurred, someone else was able to create fake evidence-- that kind of thing. There were a few kinds of healing, another person could die in the place of someone else... a large range, I guess.
[ she sighs. ]
For us, the three groups weren't in any direct competition against each other or anything. We just had to make sure the numbers were even or else we were screwed.
Just because it isn't new, it doesn't suddenly make it okay.
[And at least the people in the town knew what they were doing, smh. Anyway... He frowns, nodding along to what Steph says.]
... Not a competition, but this one is. That implies there's gonna be a winner at the end of the road. And if we're really gonna be expected to kill each other here, the implications aren't exactly great. [Which is, hm, nice to think about. He glances at Steph.] How low did your numbers have to go?
[He frowns heavily, looking sour. His eyes glance between the three of them, but then land on Stephanie for her answer.]
The place with the temple, they talked about competition, too. The people following a leader will win, but so will the leader. What does that mean in the long run? If the leader is trying to get something by using us as pawns.
If it's more than simply a kindergarten relay race to make us behave.
The temple knew they were in competition from the start, and why. The winning party would get a wish granted. They also agreed to participate willingly, since it was ... a dream. It was a pantheon of gods trying to decide who would lead via competition using that group.
[ it feels important to note. it's weird. it's dumb. all these death games are dumb. it's also giving him a moment to not think about how Jason is right that none of this is right!! haha. hateful. ]
Whatever competition this is-- if it is linked to what's going to happen-- is a different ball game entirely.
[ anyway answer the question Steph even tho dick already knows from belph ]
A dream? What, so they had a dream and said yes in it, and then were brought to the contest?
[ seems stupid but okay. but she'll go back to the question. ]
Basically, we ended up with three people left in each faction. If we dipped below those numbers, we were screwed. But when we complete our objectives, we collected ink as rewards for it. Each faction had to collect a certain amount of ink, so if any were slacking we would be... wait for it, screwed.

[Considering that implies there were survivors.]
