Evan, Hikage, and Belph are the only ones who know about the Batgirl thing.
[ a pause ]
Hikage doesn't know that much, actually, just that it's something about home. Evan only really knows because he saw a memory of mine so I had to explain more.
It happened two different weeks. Basically, in the castle our lives were tied to another person. So if they died, you died as well, unless the person with the power to create new partnerships saved you.
The first time, we only saw memories that belonged to our partner. But then when it happened again later on, we could see anyone's.
[The very cold hand of fear grips him at the idea of people seeing his memories. Not only because that's fucking weird, but because his memories aren't exactly great.]
well, she remembers percy telling her about a lot of differences between their places, so this isn't too surprising. ]
It was a weekly thing. At first it was mainly just stuff that affected you and your partner, but eventually it was more widespread. One week you kept wanting to hold your partner's hand a lot? Or you knew exactly what emotions they were feeling. Stuff like that.
Pretty much. It would always begin at the start of the week.
[ now she's thinking...]
We were kind of forced to share secrets? And we'd hear things or see stuff out of the corner of our eye... But mostly it was stuff that seemed to manipulate how we felt.
[Well, Percy is VALID, and it's late and if any of this i mess up it's bc i'm tired don't judge me]
There were no strange effects on us during our stay. We had no powers or abilities. Each week, Bandits would be chosen, and one or more people would die Thursday night. The next day, we would search the town for anything related to the deaths. Saturday, we would hold a trial, and we would vote.
Some of us tried to vote for ourselves, but Hal made a new rule that wouldn't allow us to do that. Sunday, there would be an execution for whoever we voted guilty Saturday.
The general store had a suggestion box, and you could ask for things to be put in stock. Some of the buildings were boarded, and we had to break into them. On occasion, people would go missing throughout the week. The Deputy would put people in the stocks, but we didn't know it at the time. We would also receive letters from the dead at the post office.
I see... the deaths and trials were basically the same for us. If you voted for yourself, you'd get punished, and each time someone tried the punishment got worse until people stopped. If you didn't vote at all, you'd be killed.
[ she sighs ]
We didn't have to break into stuff, but we would go on... I dunno, weird adventures? Like you'd be minding your own business and then suddenly get the feeling to go somewhere.
[What the hell is with these pockets of murderous intent for entertainment, or challenge? Jesus.]
We didn't win the game as originally intended, but it doesn't sound as if many others were different. I didn't have a chance to kill the Deputy. Goodman was chosen as a Bandit by the time we realized Lecter was the Deputy, and she killed him herself since it wasn't an absolute for success.
Giving Jackson all of our merit and making him last man standing was enough. So if there happens to be murder here, we could potentially reach the end through other means.

So, uh. Be ready in case that happens here, too.

Is this why people are becoming stuck together when they touch where there's skin? Did anything else happen? Is it similar?

If there isn't a way to stop it, then we'll all have to deal with it.

[ having a secret identity is kind of hard when these things happen ]
Percy told me that the place you were at was missing a lot of stuff that mine was. He sounded offended...

That's how the town worked mostly.

The same as the people from yours, I imagine. Some stupid, some happy to kill, some who shouldn't have been there at all.
