[ the murder was unwanted, but expected. hearing people yell about hearing akechi's voice was unexpected though.
however, the most surprising thing was seeing damian burst into tears and run off. stephanie stares in disbelief for several seconds before following after him, only pausing when she sees him enter the building. she follows after. ]
[She can hear him before she even gets much farther inside. The more he tries to hold in the ridiculous sobs, the louder they are when they explode from him.
He draws in a breath to hold it after she calls to him, quiet. His voice is croaky. :'(]
Jk, he's not running, but he's looking for Stephanie around the mess hall. Uno person has died, like two groups stumbled back, and now four idiots had a pile-up. What the HELL IS GOING ON.]
[ he can find her sitting behind some cabins, facing the forest. when she hears damian's voice, steph looks up, her expression going from blank to one of slight surprise. ]
[i was about to put them with the chickens, but then we decided to put them in Merriment's wing because francy just wants to be greedy and self-indulgent and have both jack and papika
Anyhow, when Stephanie gets to Merriment's wing, after a few minutes, she'll get a big, thicc, icy-cold snowball chunked right at her head.]
[As soon as they were all free, like Wei Wuxian, he flees as quickly and quietly as possible. It takes a long time for Stephanie to find him (WE WILL RETCON DEPENDING ON PRENUP......),
but she eventually can find him if she feels like trekking up some of the mountains--the best place, he thinks, to escape most of the people who are injured.
He is making a lot of low noises, a staccato of them, something a lot like grunting. And then she can see a flash of something, a sword. Nico's sword. Which may not seem great at a time like this.]
[ it takes a long time to find him because it takes her twenty years to get up the mountain, but honestly steph figured it would be the most likely place to run to; it's the hardest location to reach, and most people wouldn't bother to look that hard.
unfortunately for him, her mind can only think damian right now.
when she sees him, there's only a second of hesitation before she goes more fully out there to where he is. she doesn't say anything, and instead just looks at him. ]
[She edges around, and she can see that Damian is hacking a collection of very thin trees, ones that will easily get taken down by a single sweep of the sword. He's... fighting, or practicing, but it's clearly a way to get relief.
But hearing Stephanie makes him wheel around, sword raised and breathing deep. He points it at her, a warning, though when he realizes who it is, the sword falters somewhat.]
